The Tattle Tale |
AROUND TOWN By Marie Mims August 21, 2010 What a great night we had at Our Favorite Place Saturday night. The Shaggers were invited to attend the Circle of Friends Dance at Jamil Shrine Club. Everyone decorated their own table and picked their theme for the night. It was interesting to see the various themes and all the tables were so colorful. There was a Hawaiian table, Flamigo, black and white, red, white and blue and many others The theme we had for our tables was White sports coat and pink carnation or Prom Night and all of the men wore white dinner jackets with pink carnations and the ladies wore gowns of the fifties with wrist corsages and dance cards. Bob Mergle picked out songs of the fifties and Jimmy Davis played the songs as well as many other well known tunes. Little Pig served the food and it was delicious as always. .Anne White had never been to a Prom and was chosen Prom Queen for the night. The Daughters of the Nile also had entertainment for us and gave out many door prizes. This certainly was a night to remember as we were able to go back in time to Prom Night. |

AROUND TOWN By Marie Mims August 28, 2010 Appreciation Night for Shaggers at Jamil was a huge success. Monique and Fred Sharpe prepared a delicious dinner for us. Fred provided many free shooters for us . I think everyone would agree that Our Favorite Place really made us all feel welcomed. Jimmy Munn was the DJ and Jimmy always knows what shaggers like to dance to. Jimmy is having surgery soon and we wish him well. If any of you want to come dance with us, please do. You will have a great time and we will alll welcome you. We usually have something to eat. It is fun to sit with all of our friends and enjoy a good supper ane then dance the rest of the night away. This is a no smoking place but you may smoke just outside the door. We were sorry to hear that Jeanette and Ashley are both in the hospital. Get well you two. We miss you. Tonight Tonight Jimmy Davis was at his best, playing all of our favorite tunes. For those of you that do not know this, Jimmy is also part of the band ,The Sensational Epics. We feel very lucky to have him here at Jamil djing. There was a good size crowd that stayed on the dance floor most of the time. Good to have Lori and Wayne Stephens back . Wayne loves to play pool and is very good at it as he has even been to Las Vegas to play pool. Nancy Cirmella and Lewis Chavis also came out. Nancy and Lewis teach the shag and will be starting a new class September 15th. Somehow when you say bring a dish to shaggers, they translate it to mean bring a feast as that is what we always have. Saturday was no different. We have really good cooks and love to exchange receipes. Bob and Sue Patterson were also there Saturday night and Bob will be dJing this coming Saturday night. We always have a good crowd at Our Favorite Place and have so much fun. See you Saturday night. |
