AROUND TOWN By Marie Mims January 4, 2012 Tonight was a great night for shagging at Our Favorite Place.  With a crowd of around one hundred, the dancers were keeping that dance floor full..  Barney Mims was the DJ for the night and did an outstanding job playing the music the shaggers wanted to hear. We were glad to see so many out. We had members of Capital City Shag Club, Palmetto Shag Club and Class.  Good to see all of our old friends and made new friends. Hope all of you shaggers are coming out on Saturday for the big party.  DJs Barney Mims and Jimmy Munn will be playing from 1:00p.m. until. Jamil has made a special invitation to the shaggers to come to their party.

AROUND TOWN by Marie Mims December 31st New Year's Eve. I have heard from many people that for the money this is the best Event in town.  I must say we all enjoyed ourselves. There was a delicious dinner of Rib Eye steaks, baked potatoes, and salad.  After this wonderful meal, the dancers began to gather on the dance floor and dance they did. The Sensational Epics played every kind of music one could want to hear and the shaggers and other dancers danced their hearts out.  When the Epics took a break, DJ Jimmy Munn took over so the dancers could continue to dance. There was champange and party hats and all kinds of favors to make it a festive night and the decorations were beautiful. Then after midnight everyone was furnished a continental breakfast.   Many friends were made that night and many good memories.

AROUND TOWN By Marie Mims January 7, 2012   What a busy time of year.  Today there was a big celebration  of the new Potentate coming into office at Jamil and there was a celebration all day and night.  The Shriners asked all shaggers to come to their celebration and many showed up at the ladies luncheon at the Summit Club and also for the dance that night.  They served a mexican meal and then  the dancing began DJs Barney Mims and Jimmy Munn  played great music all night long.  The decorations were very festive looking and we all partied until late in the night.  I hope all of you shaggers will start coming out to Jamil to dance.  These dances are for everyone.  All shag clubs are invited. Hope to see you on Wednesday and Saturday nights.  There is always a large crowd.  Many bring a dish for supper and when all are put together, we have a great meal to start the night.

AROUND TOWN By Marie Mims January 11, 2012 Tonight we celebrated pre SOS night at Our Favorite Place, and celebrate we did.  We also were celebrating the return of Margie Lee. Margie and Tommie Brant did a special spot light dance for us.  She is an amazing lady.  She thanked all us for the cards, flowers and prayers.  Prayers were certainly answered with Margie.  We are so happy to have you back with us Margie. We had around one hundred, twenty five dancers and DJ Jimmy Davis did a great job of keeping the dance floor full.
